Smart Repairs in Hinckley

Over the past decade, the term smart repairs has become common in the body repair industry. Essentially, when a customer searches for smart body repairs, they are seeking small, localised body repairs to their car or van. Whilst most bodyshop services have traditionally been carried out in dedicated bodyshops, smart body repairs have been associated with mobile services. Mobile car and van repairs are usually carried out on the customers driveway or place of work, and typically completed within a few hours.

Such mobile smart repairs may be convenient and at times cost effective, but a lower cost is too often a result of reduced quality. Understandably, mobile repairers do not have access to professional equipment such as low bake spray booths and ovens, and the significantly lower overheads are often reflected in the price the customer pays. For a top quality, lasting finish, nothing can match an equipped bodyshop with experienced technicians. This does not mean, however, that bodyshops cannot offer high quality 'local' repairs. Here at Allied Automotive, we offer a number of services that provide a relatively low cost without compromising quality.

Scratch Repairs

Scratches can be an unsightly and frustrating hindrance on your vehicle’s appearance. Not only can scratches cause annoyance every time you walk past them, but they can also reduce the value of your car or van. As one of the most visually obvious forms of devaluation, customers are often keen to have scratches removed from their paintwork. For every type of scratch, there are different methods of scratch repairs.

Light scratches that do not break the outer surface of your paint finish can sometimes be polished out. This type of scratch repair is by far the cheapest - at Allied Automotive we use machine operated polishing (MOP) to 'buff out' a wide variety of scratches. Often, however, the scratches can be too deep - a perfect example is those caused by 'keying'. As frustrating as it might be, cars and vans do frequently get 'keyed', and will require repairing, priming and refinishing. This type of scratch repair is obviously far more labour intensive and incurs higher costs.

Paintless Dent Removal

Dent removal, and particularly paintless dent removal is another job often associated with smart body repairs. The objective of paintless dent removal is to remove blemishes such as car park dents using a wide range of specialist tools. By manipulating the surface of your vehicles' bodywork with rods, punches and hammers, the paintless dent removal technique can often produce astonishing results. A skilled paintless dent remover will produce a finish that leaves little trace of repair. To do this job mobile, however, is slightly more difficult. Often, various interior panels need to be removed to gain access to the bodywork where the dent is situated. This requires a wide range of tools, knowledge and significant time. To combat this issue, many dent repairers simply drill holes to create access, covering them with unsightly rubber grommets upon completion of the repair. At Allied Automotive, we spend significant time to avoid this - and in many cases there is no evidence of a paintless dent removal having been carried out.

We mainly provide our accident and body repair services to the Barwell, Hinckley and Burbage area, but our fast service often attracts bodyshop customers from all over Leicestershire. For a local, friendly service near you, contact us today.
