Who is Mat Armstrong?
Mat Armstrong is a 31 year old automotive YouTuber and social media star from Leicester, England, born on 11 June 1993. His rise to fame began as a professional BMX rider, fully sponsored, but he soon turned his attention to cars—first fixing up vehicles in the car park of an Indian restaurant where he worked evenings and later doing social media at a garage.
In 2013, he started his YouTube channel “Mat Armstrong,” teaching himself how to build, modify, and restore high end vehicles. He initially focused on German engineering—Audi, BMW, Volkswagen, Maserati, Bentley—and often acquires crashed or written off cars to transform them and sell for profit. His rebuilds have become increasingly ambitious, moving into high end supercars such as Lamborghinis and Ferraris. Generating tens of millions of views, these rebuilds have made him a household name among car enthusiasts.

Mat and Social Media
Mat now commands over 4.7 million YouTube subscribers and more than 2 million followers on Instagram. He famously restored Marcus Rashford’s crashed Rolls Royce, buying it for £185,000 and spending over £324,000 total—a project the footballer’s team even supported with spare keys and codes.
Beyond that high profile restoration, Armstrong renovated everything from Audi TTs to Bentley Continental GTs and Porsche Caymans. Many of his restored cars are raffled off to followers, which he says is a highlight. His partner, Hannah, often joins him, and together they’ve expanded their venture into full time careers—Mat films and edits, Hannah helps manage projects and giveaways.
From BMX parks to Porsche powerhouses, Mat Armstrong’s journey is one of grit, self teaching, and turning wrecks into wonders—fuelled by passion and digital creativity.
