Using your own insurance to repair your ‘at fault’ accident damage
When your vehicle is damaged in an at-fault incident, it can feel like a daunting situation to resolve. At Allied Automotive, we understand how important it is to restore both your vehicle and your peace of mind as quickly and professionally as possible. A recent repair we carried out on a Lexus NX450 is a great example of how our team supports customers through the process from start to finish.
The incident
The driver of the Lexus NX450 had unfortunately collided with a fixed post, causing damage along the driver’s side of the vehicle. Both the front and rear doors on the driver’s side were impacted, with dents, creasing, and paint damage. As the driver was at fault, the claim was processed through their own insurer.
Working with the insurer
Although not an approved repairer, Allied Automotive liaised directly with the customer’s insurance company to make the process as smooth as possible. We carried out a full damage assessment, submitted our repair estimate, and quickly agreed a repair authority with the insurer. This efficient communication meant we were able to book the vehicle in for repair without unnecessary delays, helping the customer get back on the road sooner.
Quality parts and precise repairs
For this repair, we sourced brand new OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) doors and components directly from Lexus dealers. Using genuine manufacturer parts ensures the highest standards of fit, safety, and durability, and helps maintain the vehicle’s value and integrity.
Our technicians carefully removed the damaged doors and prepared the vehicle for refitting. The new panels were professionally painted in our on-site refinishing facility using advanced colour-matching technology to ensure a perfect match to the existing paintwork.
To achieve a seamless finish, we didn’t just paint the new doors in isolation. Our paint specialists blended the colour into the adjacent panels—the rear quarter and front wing—so that the repaired area transitions smoothly with the rest of the vehicle. This blending process is essential for modern metallic and pearlescent finishes, ensuring that the repair is visually undetectable once complete.
Attention to detail
Once the painting process was complete, our team carefully refitted all door components, trims, and fittings, checking panel alignment and shut lines to ensure everything matched manufacturer specifications. The vehicle then underwent a full quality control inspection, including checks for finish, functionality, and overall presentation.
Back on the road
The result was a Lexus NX450 restored to its pre-accident condition, both structurally and cosmetically. The customer was able to collect their vehicle knowing it had been repaired using genuine parts, expert craftsmanship, and insurer-approved processes. The client provided a testimonial:
‘I took my car to the garage after driving in to a post and damaging both doors on the driver side. I was so upset and Chris and the rest of his team were incredible from the start.
They arranged for parts, I dropped the car off and they bought me home, and when the car was ready which didn’t take long at all, dropped it back to my house.
Hopefully I will never need to go again, but if I needed any kind of bodywork then there’s only 1 place for me from now on. The work they did was exceptional, flawless and beyond my expectations.’
